Walked through a new subdivision in St. Albert and saw every house had the alarm panel in the master bedroom closet

Was checking out a buddy's new build in St. Albert last weekend. Nice houses, decent neighborhoods. But I poked around and every single house had the main alarm panel stuffed in the master closet behind the clothes. I get why the builders do it, keeps it out of sight. But man, what a pain for us to service later. Do you guys deal with this a lot? Any tricks for running wires to those spots or convincing homeowners to move it?

Path of least resistance" is right - I once spent an HOUR in a closet trying to reach a panel that was basically walled in by the owner's shoe collection. @simonmoore's conduit idea is genius, I'm definitely trying that on my next build to save myself the yoga routine.

Read an installer blog once that said builders just grab the path of least resistance for that stuff. If you can get them while the walls are open, that's your best shot at convincing someone to put it closer to the front door. Maybe offer to run a quick conduit during the rough-in so any panel move isn't a total nightmare down the road.
