Vent: Contact sensor battery died mid-install on a 3 story walkup in Philly
I was up on a ladder pairing a window sensor and it just gave out, no warning, after I'd already sealed the casing. Had to climb down, dig through the van for a spare, and redo the whole mount in 90 degree heat. Anyone else carry spare 2032s on their belt or am I the only one who learned that the hard way?

and now I keep a little strip of velcro wrapped around my ladder with three spare 2032s on it, right near the top where I'll actually see them. I mean, I learned that after losing a whole afternoon on a job down in South Philly where the sensor died and I had to walk three blocks to a bodega that somehow had them behind the counter. The worst part is the casing was already sealed with that thin tape that never goes back on right once you peel it, so I ended up using electrical tape and it looked like garbage. Idk, maybe it's just me but I've started testing every battery with a little voltage meter before I even climb up, even if it's brand new out of the pack. That heat really does something to them too, I swear they drain faster when it's 90 degrees and you're sweating all over your tools.
