Vent: A single bad crimp on a 4-wire run in a 1978 split-level took me 4 hours to find.

The panel kept throwing a 'supervision fault' for zone 2, and I had to tone and check every inch of that 80-foot run before I found the green wire had a crimp that looked perfect but was barely making contact inside the wall.

Man, four hours for one crimp. I used to trust those things completely if they looked good on the outside. A job last year had me chasing a similar ghost on a door contact. Perfect looking connection, but it would drop out randomly. Ever since then, I don't just look at a crimp, I give every wire a solid tug after I make it. That hidden break you found is exactly why. It saves me a huge headache later.

Been there. That tug test is the only thing that catches those, right?

Crimps are professional liars.
