TIL fishing alarm cable through a packed wall beats a rod, a shop vac hose did it in 10 minutes
Had a retrofit in an old brick house near Dayton where the cavity was full of blown insulation and my glow rod kept hanging up about 4 feet down. On a hunch I taped the cable to the end of a vac hose, fed it from the top, and let suction pull a string down to the box opening, done in 10 minutes flat. Everybody tells me to just cut drywall and patch it later, but has anyone else had luck with the vac trick on walls that are really stuffed?
