The customer who asked me to disable her motion sensor
Tbh, it was a Tuesday afternoon on a service call in Maplewood. The lady was in her 70s, sweet as can be, and she told me straight up, "Honey, that thing screams every time I walk past it to get tea." She wanted me to bypass the whole motion zone, not just the chime. I spent 20 minutes explaining false alarm rates and how a pet-friendly PIR could solve it without losing coverage. In the end, we compromised on a dual-tech sensor and she paid an extra $45 for the swap. Has anyone else had a customer fight you on a sensor placement for something this simple?

Did you at least get a good laugh out of it before the headache kicked in? I totally get that feeling, I once had a guy insist his motion sensor was "haunted" because it kept going off at 3am, turned out his cat was sleeping on top of it. I spent way too long convincing him we didn't need an exorcist, just a bracket adjustment. Honestly, sometimes the simplest fixes feel like pulling teeth, and you're just standing there thinking, "I could literally fix this with a screwdriver and some patience." But hey, that extra $45 for the dual-tech swap sounds like a fair trade for keeping your sanity intact.
