Picked hardwired over wireless for a big commercial job
Had a client last month pushing for a wireless system because they thought it'd be cheaper. I stuck with hardwired panels after running conduit for 12 zones, and the signal stability has been rock solid. Anyone else find wireless gets flaky in buildings with thick concrete walls?

I gotta push back on that a little. On a big job last month I went wireless for a 16 zone system in a concrete office building and it's been perfect. Zero drops, no interference. The new gear, like the Honeywell 5800 series, handles concrete way better than stuff from five years ago. Conduit and wire is a huge time suck and cost blowout for the client, especially when you're fishing through block walls.

Aw yeah, that "perfect" 16 zone system in a concrete box. How's it gonna look when the new security guard parks his radio van right outside the utility closet? Or when the office manager decides to run that new industrial coffee roaster right next to the main panel? Guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed the doors still talk to the panel after the lunch rush microwave tsunami.
