Keypads on the wall vs. phone app control: which are you actually installing in 2024?
I've been putting keypads on every job since I got into this trade, but lately half my customers in Denver ask if they can just use their phone and skip the keypad entirely. I get it, it's one less thing to mount and wire, but I keep thinking about the older folks who don't want to mess with an app when the siren is going off at 2am. Last month a lady told me she'd pay extra just to have buttons by the door, and I'm not sure if that's the norm or she's the exception. So which side are you on: are you still running a keypad at the main entry, or have you gone all-in on app control, and why?
