I stopped taping glass break sensors in attics after a July job in Tucson changed my mind
For years I skipped the tamper tape on attic glass break sensors, figuring nobody climbs up there anyway. Last month I did a panel swap in a Tucson home and the homeowner asked why the old sensors had little screws with wire looped through them. He told me his insurance guy walked the attic during a claim and flagged two sensors that could just be pulled off the ceiling. I looked it up and some policies say a sensor has to be tamper protected to count toward the discount. Cost me about 4 extra minutes per sensor to drill, screw, and wire the loop, and now I do it every time. Has anyone had an adjuster actually make a fuss over this, or was my guy just grumpy?
