Found out most commercial alarm panels are running on outdated firmware straight from the factory
I was digging into a DSC panel last week for a client in Denver and noticed the firmware date was from 2019. Turns out manufacturers don't update them before shipping and most installers never check. Has anyone else run into this causing false alarms or compatibility issues with newer sensors?

Found a panel from 2017 in a bank vault once. The tech said it was "fine" until they tried adding a new glass break sensor and the whole thing started throwing out random alarm signals at 3 AM. Ended up having to swap it out for a newer model just to get the damn thing to communicate with the new hardware. Manufacturers REALLY need to ship these things with current firmware.

It's the same story everywhere you look, tech just stops playing nice when you try to mix old and new together.
