Finally ditched the ladder trick for wall-fishing, wish I did it sooner

Used to fight with a fish tape and a glow rod from the attic for hours on two-story homes, especially in Rockford where the insulation is packed tight. Then last Tuesday I tried the magnet pull method with a 50 lb magnet on the outside and a steel washer on the wire, and it took 6 minutes flat. The trick is to tape the washer tight to the jacket, not the copper, so it doesn't slip off when you tug. Anyone else switched to magnets for exterior runs, or do you still trust the old tape and pray approach?

Took me three tries and a dropped washer in the bushes before I figured out the tape trick, so my first magnet job was more like 45 minutes of me cussing at a wall. Now it's almost too easy, which honestly makes me suspicious I've been doing everything wrong for years.
