Customer's old wired system had foil tape on the windows

Replaced a 1990s DSC system last month and the original installer had put foil tape around every single window. Took me an extra 2 hours just to scrape it off clean. Has anyone else run into weird old-school install choices that made your job harder?

...and it's like some installers just had one way of doing things and never questioned it. Foil tape on windows feels like it's from the same era where people thought wrapping their whole house in aluminum foil would block signals. I see that same stubbornness in other trades too, like electricians who still use old cloth wiring or plumbers who swear by lead pipes. It's almost like people back then believed if you didn't do it the hard way, it wouldn't last.
