TIL the guy who signs off on AD compliance at my old shop never actually read the directives
Found this out at a shop in Wichita two years ago when a 172 came in with an airworthiness directive that had been pencil-whipped for three annuals straight. I pulled the logbook and the signature was there every time, but when I asked him about the specific inspection steps he couldn't tell me the torque values. Turns out he was just checking the AD list against the summary table and signing. I made him walk the whole thing with me on the next one and it took 40 minutes instead of 5, and he was not happy about it. How many of you actually pull the full AD text before you sign, or am I the weird one here?
