Showerthought: I keep seeing guys skip the final torque check on bleed air duct clamps
Had a plane come back last week with a hot cabin floor, traced it to a loose duct clamp that was leaking 400 degree air. The mechanic said he 'felt' it was tight enough. I've seen this three times in six months. That final click on the torque wrench isn't just a suggestion, it's what keeps the hot air where it belongs. Anyone else finding this on their heavy checks?

I used to skip that final check too until a similar leak melted some wiring.

Oh man, that's the worst kind of wake-up call! My old neighbor had a slow drip from his water heater that went unnoticed for months. It completely ruined the laminate flooring in his utility room and the subfloor was a spongy mess. The repair bill was insane because they had to tear out so much. It really drilled into me that the small stuff you ignore can cause the biggest headaches later.

My uncle's garage fridge had a tiny drip line leak for maybe a year. It rotted out a whole wall section behind it, full of black mold. The fix cost more than the fridge was worth, easy. It's crazy how a five dollar hose can lead to a five thousand dollar problem.
