Serious question, I thought the new torque wrench with the digital readout was just a gimmick.
My old click-type wrench had been fine for years, but the shop got a new Snap-on TechAngle for the heavy checks. I used it on a set of engine mount bolts last week, and the angle measurement feature caught a bolt I would have sworn was tight. It showed I was 15 degrees short on the final turn. Has anyone else had a tool they didn't trust end up saving their bacon?

Yeah, that angle feature is no joke. It catches stuff the click just can't, especially on those stretch-to-yield bolts that are everywhere now. My stubborn self fought the upgrade for ages, calling it a toy. Now I feel a bit silly for trusting my ear over the actual numbers. That one saved step is the difference between a bolt that's tight and one that's actually right.

My old torque wrench clicked on those head bolts but the angle gauge showed it was still 15 degrees short. Switched to the angle method and the compression test numbers finally lined up.
