Saw three A&P students at the Sun 'n Fun hangar in Lakeland using torque wrenches like breaker bars
Stopped by the maintenance tent last month and watched a group hand a wrench back to the tool crib with the clicker still set at 40 inch pounds. Instructor told me they blow through about six calibration checks a season because of that. Makes me wonder if the schools are even covering tool care, or is it just my side of the field seeing this?
Six calibration checks a season is a lot of money and downtime for something a five minute talk could fix. Do the instructors actually check the clickers at the end of each class, or does the tool crib just eat the cost and nobody says anything? If the schools are not watching it, the habit just walks out the door with the students.
