Remember when you could just look at a wire bundle and know what went where?
Got a write-up for a flickering nav light on a Cessna 172. Figured it was a bad bulb or loose connection, maybe an hour tops. Spent the whole afternoon tracing it back through three separate wire bundles that had been added to over the years, each with different colored tape. The actual problem was a single pin in a cannon plug at the wing root that had backed out just a hair. Took about five seconds to fix after six hours of chasing ghosts. Anyone else miss the days of simple, clean wiring runs?

Three different colored tapes on the same bundle? That's a special kind of chaos.

Oh man, I once saw a bundle with red, blue, AND that weird greenish-yellow tape. It looked like a clown's idea of cable management. The tech just shrugged and said he used whatever was in his bag that day. It makes tracing a single line a total nightmare later on. Pure visual noise.
