My old foreman in Tulsa always said to torque the B-nuts on a fuel line by feel, not a wrench, but that advice nearly caused a leak on a King Air last month.

I followed his 'feel' method for years until I found a fitting that was a full turn loose after a pressure check, so what's the best torque procedure you guys actually use for those AN fittings?

Man, that's scary. So when you say "full turn loose," was that after you'd already felt it as tight? Makes me wonder if the line itself could twist and give a false feel.

Yeah, that's a really good point.

How much do you think the line twisting plays into that false tight feeling? I've had fittings feel solid until the line itself took up the slack. Maybe a torque wrench is the only way to know for sure you're not just twisting the tube.
