Had to choose between a digital torque wrench and my old clicker for a Cessna 172 annual.

The digital one was $600 and promised more accuracy. My old clicker wrench was reliable but maybe a bit off after ten years. Went with the digital for the gear bolts. It caught a few that were just under spec. Anyone else make the switch and find it worth the cash?

You mentioned the digital wrench catching bolts just under spec. That's actually a good thing, because "just under" on a clicker can be dangerously loose in the real world. The extra money buys you that margin.

Honestly, @maryshah nailed it, but also think about the paperwork trail a digital log creates for the FAA.
