Found a weird trick for stubborn O-rings on a King Air last week

We were replacing the hydraulic pump on a King Air 200 in Phoenix and the old O-ring was totally stuck in its groove. My lead mechanic said to try a tiny bit of hand sanitizer on a cotton swab, which softened the sealant just enough to pop it out without damaging the groove. What's your go-to method for stuck seals on older airframes?

The hand sanitizer trick is a perfect example of how the best fixes are often just using what's already in your pocket. I see it everywhere, like using a zip tie as a temporary hose clamp or a paperclip to reset a router. It's not about the fancy tool, it's about seeing the simple thing right in front of you that gets the job done.

My old shop swore by a drop of penetrating oil on a toothpick.

Hand sanitizer on a King Air, huh? That's one way to get a clean removal.
