Discovered a trick for stubborn torque seal cleanup with simple green and a heat gun
We had a batch of 12 filters come back from overhaul last Tuesday with this crusty old torque seal that wouldn't budge with normal solvent. I tried brake cleaner and a scraper, took forever and left scratches on the housing. Out of frustration I hit one with a heat gun on low for about 30 seconds, then sprayed Simple Green and it wiped right off with a rag. Did the rest in under 20 minutes total, zero damage. Has anyone else found a weird combo that beats the expensive purpose-made removers?
