Appreciation post: that Thursday I cleared 3 squawks on one bird and still made it home for dinner
Had one of those days at the hangar out in Spokane that makes you remember why you got into this trade. Came in at 6am to a 737 with a write-up on the left pack valve, a sticky cargo door latch, and a fuel quantity gauge reading off by about 40 pounds. Normally that's a two-day job fighting parts and waiting on the lead to sign off, but the valve came out clean on the first try, the latch just needed a new spring, and the gauge issue turned out to be a loose connector pin I spotted with a flashlight in like 15 minutes. My lead walked over around 2pm, looked at my sign-offs, and said 'that's a clean sheet, go home.' Three squawks, one airplane, done before shift change, and I still got to my kid's soccer game. Nothing heroic, just one of those days where the tools fit right and the parts were actually in stock for once. What's the last job that went smoother than you expected? I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.
