Appreciation post: My logbook just hit 10,000 hours of wrench time

It snuck up on me while I was signing off a 737's C-check in Tulsa last week. Anyone else get a weird feeling when they see a number that big in their own handwriting?

Ten thousand hours in one logbook? That’s a whole career right there. How many books have you filled to get to that point?

Yeah, I actually heard about someone who keeps a single logbook for decades. There was this old pilot who had his from the 1970s still going, all beaten up with coffee stains and stuff. He said he just writes tiny and uses a special pen that doesn't bleed. I guess it's like a personal diary that also proves you're not lying about your hours. Still, cramming 10,000 entries in one book sounds like a headache waiting to happen when the spine finally gives out.

Holy cow, 10,000 hours in one book? That's insane. Julia622 has a point, that's a lifetime of work. My logbooks are all these little pocket notebooks, I'd need a whole shelf to hold that many hours. You must have handwriting like a doctor to fit it all in.
