Spent 3 hours trying to get a whole chicken to fit in my air fryer and I still ate cereal for dinner
So last Tuesday I got this idea that I could roast a whole 4 pound chicken in my air fryer because I saw a video that made it look easy. Turns out my basket is only about 6 inches wide and that bird was never going to fit unless I broke it down first. I spent almost 3 hours watching videos, measuring the basket with a ruler, and even tried spatchcocking it with kitchen shears that were way too dull. My roommate walked in at one point and asked why I was wrestling a raw chicken on the counter at 9pm. I finally gave up, threw the pieces in a ziploc for tomorrow, and ate a bowl of Cheerios standing over the sink. Does anyone actually fit a whole chicken in theirs, or am I just supposed to buy the tiny ones?
Three hours measuring the basket with a ruler is the part that got me. What was the ruler going to tell you that your eyeballs didn't already scream when you pulled the bird out of the fridge? A 4 pound chicken shoved in a 6 inch basket is never going to end well no matter how many videos you watch. My real question is why the kitchen shears were too dull and you just kept going instead of grabbing a sharp knife, because dull shears on raw chicken sounds like a special kind of hell. And did those ziploc pieces actually get cooked the next day, or are they still sitting in the fridge waiting for round two?
