Rant: my air fryer basket book said 400F crisps better than 375F, but my fries say otherwise
Honestly I read this little booklet that came with my air fryer and it claimed 400F gives you crispier fries than 375F every time, no soaking needed. So I tried it on a bag of russets last Tuesday, 400F for 18 minutes with a shake at the halfway point, and half the batch came out dark on the edges while the middle was still soft. Then I did the same cut at 375F for 24 minutes and they came out way more even. Tbh I think the booklet is just pushing high heat so the machine looks fast, but maybe I'm wrong and my basket runs hot. Which temp do you actually use for frozen fries, and does the brand of fryer matter that much here?
