My neighbor's air fryer tip nearly ruined dinner for 8 people

My neighbor Carol said I could cook a whole frozen chicken in the air fryer without thawing it first. I followed her instructions exactly, 45 minutes at 380 degrees. When I cut into it at dinner, the inside was still raw and cold. I had to throw the whole thing in the oven for another hour while everyone waited. Has anyone else gotten bad advice from a friend about cooking times in an air fryer?

Gotta disagree, Carol's tip works fine if you flip the chicken halfway through and use a thermometer.

Learned this one the hard way myself. After ruining a whole chicken, I switched to cutting it into pieces first and cooking smaller batches. Now I always use a meat thermometer to check the thickest part before serving. It is way easier to add time if needed than to explain to guests why dinner is late and raw. Have you tried breaking down the bird before air frying?

Nah man @jake_martin16 is right. Whole frozen birds are just trouble.
