I swore my air fryer was done for after the chicken incident on Tuesday, but a $4 part changed my mind
Last Tuesday I threw a batch of chicken thighs in my air fryer and about 8 minutes in it just shut off and would not turn back on. No lights, no fan, nothing. I figured the heating element died and I was already looking at new ones online, mad because I use this thing almost every night in my tiny Columbus apartment. I let it sit for a day, then on a hunch I pulled the basket out and checked the little safety switch thing in the back. Turns out a piece of foil I used under the chicken had slid back and jammed it, so the machine thought the basket was open the whole time. I cleaned it out, bent the tab back a tiny bit with needle nose pliers, and it fired right up like nothing happened. I felt pretty dumb for almost dropping $90 on a replacement over a piece of foil. So yeah, I changed my mind about tossing appliances the second they act up. Has anyone else had a weird shutdown on theirs that turned out to be something small?
