Tried two different AI tools for summarizing long research papers last week

I had to get through a stack of PDFs for a project and tried two free tools, one called 'QuickSum' and another just called 'Summarizer'. QuickSum gave me bullet points that were basically just the first sentence of each paragraph, so I still had to read everything. Summarizer, on the other hand, actually read the whole thing and gave me a short paragraph that captured the main argument and the key evidence, like the sample size from a study on page 7. It saved me probably three hours of work. The difference was that Summarizer seemed to understand context, not just pull text. I guess one was just doing simple extraction and the other was actually processing the meaning. Has anyone else found a free tool that's good for this kind of deep summary?

Totally get that, sounds like Summarizer actually did the reading for you. Makes me wonder if the good free ones are just using better AI models under the hood.
