Saw something wild at the tech expo in Austin last week

They had a demo where an AI could copy anyone's voice after hearing just 5 seconds of audio. It was a booth for a new startup, and they were showing it off like a fun party trick. The guy running it said the tool, called EchoClone, is already being sold to small businesses for cheap. This feels like a huge problem waiting to happen. Has anyone else seen this kind of voice cloning tech out in the wild?

Yeah, that "fun party trick" is how it always starts.

Heard a podcast that basically said that exact phrase is a major red flag.

Read a thing that said calling it a party trick is just a way to make bad stuff sound cute. Totally agree with @margaret_flores17, it's never just a trick.
