Saw a shelf-picking robot at the Micro Center in Sharonville and I can't decide if it's cool or sad
I was in there last Saturday grabbing a USB cable and watched a little robot roll down aisle 7 and grab a box of thermal paste for a guy at the counter. On one hand, it got the part faster than any employee could have. On the other hand, there were two workers standing around watching it with me. Is this stuff actually helping shops or just slowly replacing the people who know where everything is? Curious what you all think, especially if you've seen these setups in smaller stores.
Oh man, we got one of those at my local hardware place last year. Honestly it worked out fine, the robot handles the boring aisle runs and the guys up front actually help you figure out which part you need. The old timers still know way more than the robot ever will, so nobody got canned over it.
