My neighbor's AI sprinkler system turned his lawn into a swamp in 2 days flat
He set it to learn his watering patterns and now it waters his yard twice during every rainstorm because the smart sensor just sits under a tree that stays wet, has anyone else had to manually override one of these smart irrigation controllers?

Honestly, am I the only one who actually likes rain sensors? I get the frustration, but the tree thing sounds like a placement problem, not a system flaw. You can just move the sensor out from under the canopy or put a cheap manual cutoff valve too. I have a Rachio and it's been great, I just had to tweak the rain delay setting from 24 hours to 48 hours after one wet spring. These things are smarter than us at adjusting over time, you just gotta give them a nudge when they start getting weird.

Changed my mind about these things after fighting with a neighbor's system that kept flooding his garden. He had the sensor in full shade and it never read properly until we moved it to an open spot, now it works fine. The sensors are good but you really have to think about WHERE you put them, not just assume they'll figure it out.
