Just realized I was training my image model wrong for months

I was using a huge dataset of 10,000 generic images for my project, but the results were always fuzzy. A friend in Boston asked me what specific objects I was trying to generate, and it clicked. I switched to a focused set of just 500 high-quality pictures of vintage cameras, and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else found that smaller, specific datasets work better than massive general ones for certain AI models?

Yeah, same thing happened with my landscape generator. I was throwing every mountain and lake photo I could find at it, thousands of them. The output was just a muddy mess. Switched to a tight set of like 300 pics of just Pacific Northwest rainforests, all with similar lighting. It finally started making stuff that actually looked like a real place. Quality over quantity for sure.

Totally get that. Spent way too long feeding my model blurry cat pics before realizing it needed specific breeds. Felt pretty dumb.
