The old bench at Whitaker Park in Tulsa had a nap rule carved into it
I stopped by Whitaker Park in Tulsa on a whim and found an old stone bench under the oaks there with "20 min max" scratched into the armrest by someone decades ago. It got me thinking about how my grandma used to nap on her porch swing with a wind-up alarm set to 15 minutes, and somehow she always woke up ready to go. These days my phone alarm gives me 5 snooze options and I still feel foggy. Did anybody else grow up with a napper who had a set rule like that?
Wait, someone actually carved "20 min max" into a park bench armrest? That is wild. Like, who does that and why? Did they bring a chisel to a park just to enforce nap rules on strangers? That is some next level dedication to a nap schedule. Your grandma with the wind up alarm makes way more sense to me.
