I stopped setting an alarm for my nap and it ruined my sleep schedule for 2 weeks
I used to set a 20 minute alarm for every nap because that's what everybody says to do, but I kept waking up groggy anyway. Two weeks ago I skipped the alarm at my apartment in Boise and just let my body wake up on its own after about 35 minutes, and I felt way better that whole afternoon. Honestly the 20 minute rule doesn't work for everyone, and I think the grogginess comes from the alarm yanking you out of deep sleep more than the nap length. Has anyone else found their sweet spot is longer than the standard advice says?
My 20 min alarm naps always left me feeling like I got hit by a bus, so maybe my body's just built different lol. 35 minutes sounds about right for me too, anything under 30 and I'm basically a zombie for the rest of the day. Good to know I'm not just broken.
