Unpopular opinion: I used to think Doug was just a boring show

For years I skipped Doug cause it seemed so low key compared to stuff like Ren and Stimpy, but my younger cousin made me watch an episode with her last weekend and I actually got into the whole weird imagination thing with Porkchop. The humor is way smarter than I gave it credit for as a kid, especially Mr. Dink's dry jokes. Anyone else have a show they slept on but came around to way later?

You ever have that moment where you look back and realize you were wrong the whole time? I did the same thing with Hey Arnold. Skipped it for years because the art style looked weird to me, then I caught an episode where Helga does that dramatic poetry slam about her feelings and I was like oh wait this is actually deep stuff. Ended up binging the whole series on a sick day. What episode did your cousin put on that finally clicked for you?

I see what you're saying about Helga's poetry episode being deep, but I actually think the show's art style is what makes those moments land so hard... it's simple enough that when they hit you with real feelings it catches you off guard.
