Thought Clarissa Explains It All was too weird for me in 1991, then my sister taped an episode and I watched it 6 times
I was 10 and thought a girl talking straight into the camera was just a gimmick, so I stuck with cartoons for a whole season. My sister recorded the episode where Clarissa builds a fake ID on our VCR, and I must have rewound that tape 6 times that weekend at our house in Akron. The jokes actually landed for me once I gave it a real chance, and I ended up watching the whole Nickelodeon run after that. Did any other shows win you over this way after you wrote them off?
