The night I taped over my sister's episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark and she did not speak to me for 4 days
Back in 1996 I was 11 and we had one VCR for the whole house in our place outside Cleveland. I set it to record the Saturday lineup while I was at a birthday party, but I put the tape in wrong and it taped over her Are You Afraid of the Dark episode from the week before. She had watched that one maybe six times and was saving it, so when she hit play and got 40 minutes of X-Men instead, she just stood there quiet. She did not speak to me for 4 days, and I ended up doing her dish nights for two weeks to make up for it. We figured out later the tape had a write-protect tab we never used, which would have saved the whole thing. I still wonder how many people out there lost a favorite show to a family member who did not check the tab first.
