That one line in Hey Arnold hit me different the other day

I was watching Hey Arnold on a streaming site and got to the episode where Helga's mom finally tells her she loves her. It was just a quick scene but it made me think about how much we miss when we're kids. My older sister walked in and said "that's still your comfort show after all these years" and it kinda clicked for me. I realized those 90s shows taught us more about real feelings than I ever gave them credit for back then. Anyone else rewatch an episode and catch something totally new as an adult?

My therapist actually told me to rewatch shows from my childhood because they can bring up stuff you never dealt with. I did the same thing with Rugrats and suddenly understood why Chuckie's mom being gone always made me cry. It's wild how those writers slipped real heavy stuff into what we thought was just silly cartoons. Helga's whole deal about hiding her feelings behind a tough exterior hits completely different when you've done that yourself for years.
