Still can't believe we used to watch Rugrats on those tiny 13 inch CRT TVs in our bedrooms

I was helping my nephew set up his gaming monitor the other day and realized how massive screens are now. Back in the 90s I had this little box TV with a built in VCR underneath. Had to sit like 2 feet away to see anything. Channel 3 for the NES too lol. When did everyone switch to huge flatscreens? Was it gradual or did your family finally upgrade all at once after 2005 or so?

Oh man, I'm gonna be the unpopular one here. I actually miss those tiny CRTs. The picture quality was way softer and my old games looked better on them, not all pixelated and sharp. Plus those big flatscreens dominate the whole room, my little box TV just sat on a stand and didn't take over everything. I waited until like 2015 to even get a flatscreen, held onto my dinosaur as long as I could. Something about the glow and the weight of those old sets felt more like real TV watching to me, not this sterile modern thing.

God no, I totally disagree with you on this one @jana_henderson52. Sorry but I remember those old CRTs being heavy as hell to move and the picture was so dim and fuzzy I felt like I was watching everything through a foggy window. Plus my desk or living room feels way more open now without a giant block of plastic taking up half the surface. I know some people swear by the retro gaming look but honestly I'll take a crisp clear modern screen any day over that dull glow.
