Spent 3 hours hunting down why my VHS copy of the Rugrats pilot sounded like garbage
Last Saturday I sat down to watch my old taped Rugrats pilot and the audio was all muffled and warbly, so I figured the tape was finally dying. I opened up my VCR, cleaned the heads with a $9 kit, tried two other tapes, and still got the same bad sound, which made no sense. Turns out my cable box was still set to mono audio output from when I moved into this apartment in 2019, and I never touched it since. Three hours of screwing around for a setting I flipped back in two seconds, and now all my old tapes sound like a totally different show. Did anyone else get fooled by a dumb setting like this, or is it just me?
