Remember how in 'Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?' we timed the globe spinning? I messed up for years
So I used to watch that show every Saturday morning, and I always thought the goal was to catch the bad guy before the globe stopped spinning at the end. Like, I'd hold my breath and everything. Turns out, my buddy pointed out last month that the timer was just for show, and you're supposed to use the clues during the episode. I'd been rushing through the whole thing for nothing. Anybody else misread a 90s show mechanic that badly?

Wait, did you ever actually catch a criminal in time or just stress yourself out for nothing?

Oh man, you're bringing back some memories! No, I never actually caught anyone, but there was this one time I was so sure I'd caught a shoplifter that I practically tackled a guy in the parking lot. Turned out he was just the store manager taking out the trash in a hoodie. I still get red in the face thinking about it. But the worst part wasn't even that - it was how I spent the next three weeks obsessing over every little shadow and noise at work, like some kind of paranoid guard dog. It's funny how you can work yourself up into a frenzy over nothing, and then one day you just realize you're wasting your own time. So yeah, mostly just stress for nothing, but it made for a good story.
