Wait, hold on. Are You Afraid of the Dark came first. Goosebumps was the book series, the TV show came later. Your cousin has the whole timeline backwards. That's not an opinion, it's just wrong. Calling the original a knockoff of the thing that copied it is wild.

Yeah I can't blame you for being annoyed, my cousin once told me my favorite band ripped off his favorite band even though his came out years later. People get things flipped around all the time, especially with stuff from the 90s. @ivanl76 is right, Are You Afraid of the Dark was setting the mood while Goosebumps was still on bookstore shelves. I guess I can't judge too hard though, I used to think the theme song from that one show was an original and it was a total ripoff of a different one. We all have those brain fog moments about what came first.
