Question about why nobody warned me about the time skip in ReBoot

I tried rewatching ReBoot last week and the jump between seasons 2 and 3 was so jarring it took me 30 minutes to figure out what episode was new. Has anyone else felt like the show totally changed vibe overnight?

Honestly I used to think people were overreacting about the season 2 to 3 jump until I tried rewatching it myself last month. You said "totally changed vibe overnight" and yeah that is exactly what happened. The show went from this fun digital world with slapstick humor to some dark cyberpunk nightmare with characters getting deleted left and right. I remember sitting there confused when the intro music changed and suddenly everything had this gritty filter over it. It felt like I skipped ten episodes instead of just the gap between seasons. The tonal shift is so extreme it almost ruins the rewatch experience if you're not ready for it.
