Picked Doug over Rocko in 1997 and my brother still brings it up at Thanksgiving
Back in 1997 my family had one TV and no cable, so my brother and I got one half hour of cartoons each on Saturday mornings and we had to agree on what to watch. One Saturday he wanted Rocko's Modern Life and I wanted Doug, and we stood there arguing in the living room until my mom walked in from the kitchen in her bathrobe and said pick one right now or the TV goes off. I picked Doug. We watched it, it was fine, but for the next few months every time Rocko came on and I was in the room my brother would just look at me and shake his head. I still think Doug had better characters but I will admit Rocko was the funnier show and maybe I was just being stubborn. The worst part is my brother has brought this up at Thanksgiving dinner for like 25 years now, he will literally stop mid bite and go 'remember when you picked Doug.' So for anyone who grew up sharing a TV with siblings back then, what was your version of this, and did you ever live it down?
