My old VHS tape of Rugrats got eaten by the player and I saved it with a pencil

Happened last weekend. Put in my copy of The Rugrats Movie and the player just started making this awful grinding noise. Pulled it out and there was tape everywhere. Looked up online how to fix it. Used a pencil to carefully wind the tape back into the spool. Took about 20 minutes but it played after that. Has anyone else had to fix a busted VHS tape like that?

Whoa hold up a pencil? That's wild. I always heard you could fix tapes with a pencil but I thought it was just an old wives tale. You're telling me you actually sat there for 20 minutes winding it by hand? That takes some serious patience man. I would've just thrown the tape out and cried about it honestly. Major respect for saving The Rugrats Movie though, that's a classic.

Buddy of mine once spent an hour untangling a copy of The Little Mermaid. His little sister sat there the whole time crying. He still talks about it like a war story.
