My cousin said Goosebumps was just for little kids and now I feel old

We were talking about the 90s shows we grew up with and he straight up said Goosebumps was for kids under 10. I was like dude I was 12 watching that and it still creeped me out. Anyone else feel like some shows hit different at different ages?

Your cousin needs to rewatch some of those episodes as an adult. The Haunted Mask still gives me the creeps and I'm pushing 30. Slappy the dummy is straight up nightmare fuel no matter how old you are. Tell him to sit through an episode of The Werewolf of Fever Swamp and then say it's for little kids. Man's probably just trying to sound mature and it's backfiring hard.

Yeah @danielh81 nailed it about Slappy. I actually read this thing online where they talked about how Goosebumps was written specifically to hit that middle grade sweet spot, where it's scary enough for 10-12 year olds but the older you get the more you notice the cheesy practical effects. The Haunted Mask episode especially (that one got me good as a kid). Funny how your cousin thinks he's too grown for it now, but watch him jump when he sees Slappy's face pop up in a dark room someday.
