I thought the 'Hey Arnold' football head thing was just a joke, but my kid asked about it yesterday

We were watching an old episode and he pointed at the screen asking why his head looked like that. I had to look it up, turns out the creator based the shape on a real person he saw at a baseball game. Anyone else have a show detail they thought was made up that turned out true?

Nah, I always figured it was based on real life too. Cartoons pull from weird stuff all the time. @rubyreed, makes you look at every odd character design differently now.

That's actually kind of wild it was based on a real person. Always figured it was just a cartoon exaggeration for the sake of being funny. Makes you wonder what other weird designs have a real life origin story.

The football head thing was actually confirmed by the creator Craig Bartlett. @rubyreed yeah it's not just a joke, the guy he saw really had that shape. I still think it's wild that a random person at a baseball game became a cartoon legend.
